Yes - They've had a lot of time to fix the glitches, so it should be ready to go.

Maybe - At a price tag of more than A$6 billion, you'd hope CERN can get it functioning.
39%
No - If a bird can bring down such a complex machine it does not bode well!

Hilarious
That's so hilarious - At the time of my vote, NOBODY had voted yes... it was 62% maybe and 38% no... not a lot of confidence there - unless it's for the birds! :))
Believe!
The title says it all.
LHC
Of course the LHC will get up and going eventually, it is amassive undertaking both in engineering and in physics so you would expect some delays in getting everthing right but I have no doubt it will be a resounding success in the long term. Look at the problems with the hubble telescpoe at first but no one can deny it is a wonderful achievment by mankind, so be patient and be positive about the LHC. A supporter.
BALLOON INSIDE BALLOON THEORY AND GRAVITOETHERTONS.
Please read my balloon inside balloon theory of twin cyclic universes of matter and antimatter on opposite entropy path producing gravitoethertons or GOD PARTICLE at the common spherical boundary by annihilation of matter and antimatter . Our universe is in gravitoethertons flow as fish in water. Therefore we know that gravity is the only effect we feel on in our universe but due to very high frequency and low wave length and speed many times light speed, we so far failed to detect in our instrument. This derivation can be seen in string theory in polar cordinates where if time discarded as dimension then we see negative matter and energy suggesting a flow of gravitoethertons and antimatter outer universe on negative entropy path. Also distant galaxies are flying faster due to pull of antimatter universe. We also see bright flashes at 14 billion light years away , may be the edge of our universe and common spherical boundary. Again our earth is very hot at core due to focus of gravitoethertons at centre and due to flow of electrons we see earths magnetism. Sun is having higher temp. corona shots than surface temp. due to flash of gravitoethertons. All these suggest my theory is correct and I do not think smashing protons in LARGE HADRON COLLIDER will be very useful except we may get some datas to investigate further . I want to participate and be a member of the team to suggest further.
Not this year !
Since september 2008, it has been stopped four times (that we know of)and they plan to restart it soon at half power. Full power is for next year (2010) if nothing else interferes again. We'll wait and see... Maybe some guy from the future has been sent back to our time to prevent it from running full blast... (cf Terminator Ha ! Ha !)
LHC
Frankly, this whole project scares the hell out of me. I honestly hope it never gets up and running.
Don't be so naive.
I don't see the reason for people to be scared of the LHC being fixed and ready to go. Is it because of the rumors about the black holes and the potential doomsday? People should learn the real facts before believing what the media and general public has to say.
Luke 25:26 "There will be strange things happening to.......
to the sun, the moon and the stars..... On Earth whole countries will be afraid of... raging tides.....for the powers in space will be driven from their courses"
With the quark-gluon plasma in the ATLAS and ALICE collision chambers hitting - calculated - temperatures of several hundred thousand times that of the surface of the sun anything can (and will) happen.
Prof. Otto Roessler's (University of Tuebingen/Germany) Group filed an updated lawsuit last November at the European Human Rights Court against CERN.
Their point is to wait first for the results of certain scheduled experiments in the ISS space station, before doing them here on Earth.

Will the Large Hadron Collider get up and running this year?
Will COSMOS be giving away a free mini-black-hole with next year's subscription?
