![]() There are many different flavours of reflective telescopes, with various numbers and types of mirrors, each with their own advantages and idiosyncratic foibles. However, the Ritchey-Chrétien is considered to be the pinnacle of reflective telescope design, with almost all professional reflective telescopes around the world using the technology. Even Hubble is a Ritchey-Chrétien. Thus, when Meade decided to embark on a project to make the best possible amateur telescope the Ritchey-Chrétien was the natural choice. The end result was the RCX400 - an observatory-quality telescope that you can fit in the boot of your car. From the carbon graphite and Kevlar tube, with its unparalleled expansion characteristics, to the 24 mm ultra-wide-angle eyepiece, Meade spared no expense in this stargazing monster. Naturally the RCX400 also includes a GPS-guided tracking computer that even knows the location of the International Space Station and Space Shuttle, and can track them accordingly. With the RCX400, if there are aliens on Mars, you'll not only be able to see them clear as day, but you'll be able to spy the plans they're making for the invasion of Earth. |
