SYDNEY: At noon today, 25,880 messages of goodwill from the people of Earth were transmitted towards the planet Gliese 581d from the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex in Tidbinbilla, Australia.
"We've had messages from Afghanistan to Antarctica, from Morocco to Macau… and there were more than 254,000 visitors to the site," said Wilson da Silva, spokesperson for the Hello From Earth project and editor of COSMOS magazine. "It's like a 'message in a bottle' cast out into the stars."
Our place in the cosmos
The 160-character text messages were collected between 12 and 24 August as part of the project, supported by National Science Week, the CSIRO, the Australian Government and NASA. In all, messages were received from 195 countries.
One message from Silvio Zarb of Melbourne, read: "All our petty disputes, disagreements and wars fade into insignificance when we consider our tiny world's place in the cosmos."
"Once the final messages were received on Monday afternoon, they were converted by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, into binary code in preparation for transmission at midday on Friday, when timing was perfect to get a transmission out to Gliese 581d," said Miriam Baltuck, director of the Tidbinbilla centre.
"We will be transmitting the message at a power level and frequency that will be obvious to anyone who might be listening," she said.
300 billion mobile phones
At a frequency of 7.145 gigahertz and a power of 18 kilowatts, the transmission is equivalent to using the combined power of over 300 billion mobile phones at the same time.
The messages will travel an astounding 192 trillion kilometres at the speed of light to arrive at Gliese 581d in December 2029. The beam was targeted not at the current position of Gliese 581d, but where it is estimated to be as it moves through the galaxy at that time.
HelloFromEarth.net has generated extraordinary coverage worldwide. More than 1,000 newspaper and magazine articles and 9,000 blogs have covered the event. The success of the project relied purely on media coverage and word-of-mouth via social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook, where it was mentioned more than 6,000 times.

i have found a book authored by eminent personality who infact lives very simple but not in one place. Those who know him has somehow gathered many future happenings,astonishingly different ones like....

Deep Space Messages
And what do we do if there is a culture in deep space that has decided that any other living culture needs to be destroyed, and they have a greater technology than us and are listening for victim candidates?

If they're advanced enough to detect this signal, they already know we're here. TV and radar transmissions have been travelling through space for the past 60 years, and Earth is already the noisiest planet in the solar system.

"We have been commercially broadcasting radio in the US since 1920 and TV since 1940. An advanced technology within 78 light years of Earth may have heard that leakage radiation. The most easily detectable signals would be the carriers that identify the different stations. The modulation that represents the information content would be much harder to detect, and interpretation would be even harder because we didn't intend the programs to be understood by anybody except other humans."
Military radar and spacecraft communications
Military radar is much more powerful and reaches deep into space. All the transmissions to the 40 or so spacecraft also go on past the craft and deep into space - and they are concentrated signals.
And there's the bright flashes from atmospheric nuclear tests - they're very detectable, apparently.

If this message has the sanction of the 2 levels of governmental insanity, it means that Canberra is looking for something to tax.
