DEPUTY EDITOR - Apply for the DEPUTY EDITOR role
Reporting to the Editor, you will be involved in developing ideas, managing projects and workflow, commissioning writers andphotographers, editing, writing, and maintaining the high standard of journalism for which COSMOS is renowned. DIGITAL EDITOR - Apply for the DIGITAL EDITOR role
We're looking for an experienced Digital Editor to manage all aspects of our web and digital portfolio, as we accelerate the global expansion of our successful brand. Reporting to the Editor of COSMOS, and working as part of a team of committed specialists, you will be primarily responsible for developing a portal that becomes the recognised destination for accurate and timely science news and information for an international audience.
DESIGNER - Apply for the DESIGNER role
We're looking for an experienced magazine designer to support our Art Director and work across our print and digital products, including magazines, posters, books, digital editions, and a widerange of custom projects, as we accelerate the global expansion of our successful brand. Magazine layout experience working with InDesign CreativeSuite 5 is essential. Strong skills in creating illustrations and infographics will be highly valued, and digital experience would be desirable. Being willing to work as part of a dedicated team striving to create insanely great products is imperative.
SUB-EDITOR - Apply for the SUB-EDITOR role
Reporting to the Editor, you will be responsible for ensuring that our high standards for clarity, writing excellence and accuracy are maintained. The right candidate will have proven sub-editing experience and be able to work to deadlines with speed and accuracy. Experienced in working with InDesign Creative Suite 5, you will be able to lead copy handling and sub-editing as well as oversee our layered proofreading system in order to create editorial products that are engaging, well-written, accurate, and tightly edited, while allowing for individual flair.
PICTURE EDITOR - Apply for the PICTURE EDITOR role
You will lead picture research across the company's products, be responsible for making sure images are correctly captioned, credited and archived, and commission photographers and illustrators as required. Working with InDesign and other applications, you will also be involved in syndication and licensing.
STAFF WRITER - Apply for the STAFF WRITER role
Reporting to the Editor, you will be responsible for creating and tailoring material to suit a wide range of audiences, and ensuring that our high standards for clarity, excellence and accuracy are maintained. You will create material that engages and informs, and takes our readers on an amazing journey. You will know how to deliver complex information in an accessible way, how to engage and inspire readers - in print, online and of varying ages. WEB AND ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS DEVELOPER - Apply for the WEB AND ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS DEVELOPER role
We're looking for a talented web developer to take a lead role at COSMOS, and – working independently or with outside contractors – begin our transition to digital delivery and take COSMOS to the rest of the world. Th role would suit someone familiar with cloud-based and hosted customer management and enterprise management systems; passionate about excellence, efficiency and performance; and who takes pleasure in creating elegant and intelligible code.
