Like a fish in and out of water

In lieu of flying cars (see Cosmos, Issue 5, p36), the best way to cross land and water is with an amphibious vehicle. These have been strangely slow to gain acceptance with the masses, despite their intrinsic appeal to the mobility enthused.

Thankfully UK company Gibbs Technology has come to the rescue with a range of amphibians for work or pleasure. Gibbs' latest achievement is the aptly named Quadski, which is half quad bike, half jetski, and all fun.

The Quadski is capable of travelling at up to 72 kilometres per hour on land or water and you can make a snappy transition between the two media via the flick of a switch.

It's still in prototype stage for now, but it should go on sale in the UK later this year. We wonder whether that means more folk will begin turning up to work in wetsuits?
