
We're not saying it's the right thing to do, but with so many open wireless networks around, it'd be a shame if they went unused. You can do your part by making your own wireless hotspot using the small handheld Canary Wireless Hotspotter. Just wander around and the Hotspotter will automatically scan for networks and display their status, signal strength and whether they're encrypted. The Hotspotter is also useful for more mundane, but no less important tasks, such as performing a site survey of your surroundings to see where your own wireless network runs out of steam, allowing you to fine-tune placement of your devices.
